I have the drives more for balance than because I need 6fps. My F3 has got a MD4 and my FM a MD12 so I find there’s less size / weight difference. * Lots of viewfinder and focus screen options if you have specific requirements ( although tbh people use digital for a lot of the more specialised stuff now ) * Can use pre ai lenses (and AI if you’ve got a later head on the F2) * Lovely viewfinders (particularly the F2) The converse is that the FG (for example) is very rarely recommended even though it’s smaller and lighter than the FM2/FE2. I sort of thought I’d get all the obvious downsides out of the way ! Their interchangeable finders also pose a point of failure after all these years. But, they're less practical than the FE and FM for today's use by amateur film buffs. The professional standards of their time. You answered your own question! They are classics. * The flash arrangements are a bit “odd” and need either a special adapter or a special flashīut given all that, the F2 and F3 are very nice cameras, just wondering why they’re not recommended much (if at all). * The F2 and F3 are less likely to have been owned by an amateur and so likely to be more worn They’re very nice cameras, but I’m just wondering why the F2 or F3 are very rarely recommended ? Whenever people ask for a beginner camera or the like the Nikon’s that are recommended are normally the FE2 or FM2(n).
